Why we make one bootEvery pair we sell is a moc toe. Here is why that rule came first.

The one boot rule

When we started Williamsburg in a Brooklyn basement, we had one bench and one last. Everything we made had to come off that last, and that rule stuck.

One boot gets better. Every run teaches us something about the pattern, the leather or the welt, and the next run is a little better than the last.

What one boot costs

One boot is harder. There is no new style to hide behind each season, so the fit, the stitching and the leather have to carry it. Each change is a fight between looking new and wearing well, and wearing well always wins.

If you do not reach for it every morning, we have not made it right yet.

That is the test every pair passes before it leaves the bench.
